Design Manager

Commercial Design and Build

South West based

£45K plus benefits

Our client is one of the UKs leading commercial design and build specialists. With over 20 years experience, the business is synonymous for producing quality and bespoke interiors from both its London and South West base. The business has built a phenomenal reputation for exceeding its clients expectations and to that end boasts a very high degree of repeat client work from some of the worlds most instantly recognisable brands. With a team of dedicated, highly talented and focused leaders the business culture is fast paced and vibrant and does not suffer from the politics and bureaucracy of other organisations. A need has arisen to recruit an experienced Design Manager to join the business in a senior capacity who has the ability and desire to be part of helping shape the future success of the organisation.

The Role
This is a key role within the business where you will become the hub between sales, projects and installation to ensure client satisfaction is achieved. The role will call for a lot of client facing activity, supporting the bid teams on new and existing enquiries and given the high activity and work load, you will also be responsible for providing the leadership, management, mentoring and training of a small department of 6 designers, allocating resource as appropriate to meet internal and external client demand. You must have the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritising and planning as appropriate to ensure timely delivery as well as the ability to work in a highly pressurised environment. We are ideally looking for an individual who has extensive previous experience within the commercial design and build arena, where experience has been gained within an environment renowned for quality and innovation.

The Candidate
We are looking for an individual who is looking for a career and not a job. The opportunity to join the leadership team is realistic and the potential to be a key part of delivering the business strategy is within your remit. As an individual you need to be charismatic, possess great leadership qualities and have the ability to inspire individuals around you as well as an inherent ability to see the wood from the trees. It is expected that you will have already managed or be managing a team of designers, be fully familiar with CAD, Sketch-up and In-Design software packages in addition to having great presence and presentation skills. We are not looking for a political player nor do we want an individual who does not see the benefit of integrating with other functions and, as such, are themselves an insular individual.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing and thriving business. This may suit an individual looking to get out of the London rat race who still wishes to get the scale, quality and variety of work in a far more collegiate environment.
